Landry Kate's 3rd Birthday

On New Year's Day, our sweet little Landry Kate turned THREE years old!  She is princess-obsessed, so the theme was not a hard choice whatsoever.  We went with a royal brunch for our little princess.

We served up bacon, sausage, pancakes, biscuits, eggs, fruit and yogurt.  Our girl loves some breakfast food (like the rest of this family!), so it was a hit!

Aunt Dana was travelling this time around, so for the first time since having kids, I was in charge of the cake.  I just went super simple and made a double layer round cake and cupcakes from funfetti cake mix.  I topped both with sprinkles, the big cake with a princess crown and the cupcakes with some princess toppers I found on Amazon.  Landry was very happy with them and they turned out pretty yummy, so I think it's safe to say I passed.

Landry is a pretty shy girl, even with the people she knows well, so when we sang 'Happy Birthday' with all eyes on her, she got pretty freaked out.  I ended up having to hold her and she wanted me to blow out her candles for her.  This is totally just her personality!  I will have to remember next year to ask her if she wants us to sing to her and we may just skip that part....I mean, it is all about the birthday girl!
When it came time for presents, though, she got over her fear pretty quickly!  She had so much fun opening gifts at Christmas that she was super happy to have more to open so soon.  She got lots of fun princess dress up things that she was very excited about.

When we finished with those gifts, Brent went outside to grab her gift from Mommy and Daddy.  I had found her the cutest little bicycle that was decked out pink and princess that I knew our girl would love!  But she had another little freak out because everyone got so excited and was looking at her, so she was not interested at all!  Thankfully, after a bit when everyone was distracted, she hopped on and had us pushing her around the house.  Hopefully this spring, she will be able to get the hang of it and follow her brother around on it!

It was a pretty successful birthday party!  We cleaned up and played with all of her new toys that afternoon.  The princess wanted Mexican for supper, but Carter didn't want to go, so we ended up dropping him off with my Mom and took Landry out, just her and us.  It was really nice and is actually something I think we need to do for each kid's birthday because it was so much easier to give her the attention she deserved.

It is wild that our girl is three now and very close to becoming a big sister!  We can't wait to see how she takes on that role.  Happy birthday, little princess!
