Our little miss turned the big O-N-E on New Year's Day. Besides just being busy, I think I have been putting off writing this thinking I could just avoid the topic that she is officially my little one year old! How does it all go by so fast?
Landry Kate weighed in at just under 20 pounds and was 27 inches long on her first birthday. She has 8 teeth, four on top and four on bottom with molars ready to pop through any second.
I can't believe I am saying that she is still not walking! Back at six months, when she started crawling like a pro and pulling up and cruising already, I would have thought she would have been walking for months now. But little miss is a cautious one. I'm not sure she is ever going to take off on purpose. I'm beginning to think it is going to take her forgetting and just accidentally taking off to show her she can do it. We'll see, she is so close!
This month has been a busy one, but such a fun one! We loved celebrating Landry's first Christmas with her. She was so fun opening presents like a little pro and loved all of them, no matter what they were! She loved the Christmas tree and lights, even though they kept her in trouble since she couldn't keep her little hands off!
We had a strangely warm December. We even got some time outside without all of the layers of hats and coats and little miss loved it. She spent a lot of the day just playing in the grass. She had so much fun just taking handfuls of dirt and letting it fall bit by bit and then doing it all over again. This makes me really excited for summer! She's going to fit right in around here. And she got lots of love from our sweet Bella girl.
Landry started whole milk at the babysitter at 11.5 months, but still nursed 3 times a day (morning, evening and bedtime). At that point, I was able to drop pumping at work!!! {Insert all of the party emoji's here!} She takes the whole milk cold out of a sippy cup pretty well. I warmed it up for a couple of weeks for her a bit just to help, but I don't think she really cared all that much. Then we dropped the evening nursing session right around her birthday, still nursing first thing in the morning and right at bedtime. Since she has been teething and sick, we are still doing that but I am pretty ready to wean her completely. But just being rid of the pump has been amazing. She also loves her pear juice here and there.
She loves eating pizza, bananas, yogurt melts, green beans, peas and carrots, cheese, apples, and most soft meats (like out of the crockpot). She's not into mac n cheese or potatoes (um where did this child come from?).
Some of her favorite things to do are love on her baby dolls, point her little finger at what she wants, and constantly try to climb the stairs. If she catches the gate unlatched, she will be up them in no time! She is such a momma's girl these days, not that I mind at all! :) And she certainly knows what she wants and is not above throwing a fit to get it. She already knows the full-blown, throw herself in the floor and scream kind of fit...not sure if she learned that from her brother or what?! It kind of scares me for her two's and three's!
Poor sweet girl was sounding rattley after Christmas so we started breathing treatments but it didn't seem to do enough for her. By a couple of days before her birthday, her breathing just didn't sound right to me and she was running a temp that night, so I took her to the doctor. Turns out, it was pneumonia. So we continued the breathing treatments and added an antibiotic. Then, the day before her birthday (NYE), she was crawling up to the back door and was going to stand up against it to look out at Bella. Somehow, she didn't have her hands in place before she went to push up, and she face-planted into the trim around the window on the door. Almost immediately, her eye was black! (The pic above in her high chair was taken within an hour of it happening...you can already see it!) I felt awful! But since she was feeling and sounding a lot better on her birthday and we didn't have a bunch of little one's coming, we went ahead and had the birthday party. So she had both a black eye and pneumonia for her first birthday! More on her birthday party coming soon...
