Life Lately...

I've been posting so much lately catching up on all the holiday/birthday busy-ness that has been going on over here the last few months that I haven't gotten to do a good random post on things we have been up to in between it all!  So here it goes...(with random pics thrown in!)

Sadly, tax season is upon us again so this momma is doing a lot more working these days.  Where I typically get a four day work week (8-4PM) during the rest of the year, from now until April 15th I will be working at least Monday-Friday 8-5PM, but usually more.  Thankfully, I have a very flexible employer, so some of that extra time can happen dialed in from my home computer.  It is has been a big adjustment for all of us, since now pick up will fall to Brent everyday and he will have the kids alone for about an hour or hour and a half each night until I am home.  Then, of course, supper is pushed back and there is lots less time for play and quality time between that and baths and bedtime.  But, I just have to keep in the back of my mind it is only temporary and we will no more than blink our eyes and it will be behind us again.  I mean, one month is already pretty much behind us! :)

Myself and a small group of other young adults in our church are finishing up a Bible study that I have really enjoyed.  Even though I grew up going to church every week and even attended a Catholic school up until 6th grade, I can't say I ever really got a good understanding of the Bible.  This has led to me not really picking it up to read it as I tend to get overwhelmed with it all and end up just giving up.  But this study has really helped lay it out in a way that has tremendously helped me by using a timeline.  And when Lent begins, we will be starting the next leg of this study, which will go deeper into the Old Testament.

Today marks one week since I last nursed my little Lu-girl.  We nursed beyond what I had set as a goal for myself (one year) and I am ready to have my body back to myself.  Brent was so excited to get to start having Landry Kate bedtime duty.  Which means I get to do books and cuddle time with Carter again.  So everyone is pretty happy, even Landry...she has done great with it and hasn't been too upset besides one morning when I just really needed some relief and let her nurse for a couple of minutes then made her stop.  Note to self--only use the pump for that from now on! Do I miss getting to hold her still up next to me for a bit each day? For sure!  But so far I am not regretting weaning her.  We will just have to get our cuddles in some other way.

Last week, our area got two rounds of snow which had Carter all kinds of excited!  One round came through on Wednesday and brought a couple or so inches of snow and another front on Friday with more like five or six inches on top of some ice.  Brent was able to stay home from work to watch the kids and I worked from home quite a bit those days to try to keep up on W-2s/1099s.  Instead of sending the kids out to play in the snow, we did a lot of bringing the snow in.  Carter loved pushing his cars and tractors around in a bin full of snow, and Landry Kate had so much fun mixing it up with all kinds of utensils/spoons/etc.  She even cried when I made her go to bed at bedtime!  Then, on Saturday when it had warmed up some, Brent took Carter out in the snow to ride the Ranger and have some fun.  Us girls just sat that one out!

Of course, in true Kentucky fashion, this weekend is supposed to be in the sixties!  I'm totally not complaining, and actually greatly looking forward to some outside time, but I fully expect to be having major sinus problems.  And of course, the highs next week are in the thirties again so I guess we had better take advantage and just keep dreaming about summertime.  I can't help but think how nice this summer will be.  I think both kids will want to live outside when it comes around!
And, last, yesterday we had new living room furniture delivered!  Our old sectional was one we bought from my parents when we bought the house, but the (faux, I'm assuming) leather started peeling and the kids kept picking at it and Landry kept eating little pieces of it (ugh!) so we figured it was time for a new one.  We got a grey sectional and recliner and a storage ottoman that I plan on using as a toy-hider.  The kids had so much fun hiding inside it and playing peek-a-book with it last night!  We got new carpet in there around Thanksgiving, which led us to buy the furniture, which is now causing me to want to re-paint and get new curtains and wall decor.  So it is basically going to be a brand new room!  I will share pics when it starts to come together.

Happy weekend! :)
