Landry Kate turns One

For our sweet girl's first birthday, we decided to have a small breakfast with our immediate family.  The past few parties we have had have just felt so big and overwhelming so we cut back the list a bit and it ended up perfect.  With her birthday falling on New Year's Day, we figured most everyone was off work and should be able to attend breakfast.  We had a start time of 9:30, early enough the kids wouldn't be too ready for naps yet but late enough the partiers from NYE should be able to sleep in a bit!
Her party theme was actually picked a few months back when I fell in love with a donut PJ set from Carter's.  They have been my favorite jams to put on her all fall and winter and the more I thought about it, the more I liked the donut theme for her birthday, especially considering we wanted to have a breakfast party!
I ordered some donuts from a local shop and picked them up the evening before her party.  We also had bananas and strawberries and Brent fried bacon and sausage right before the party started (out in the garage so it wouldn't stink up the house!).  Then my mom brought a monkey bread.  It was probably the easiest meal we have done for a party (on my part anyways) because all I had to do was cut up the strawberries and sit everything out!

I went pretty minimal with the decor (at least compared to Carter's first birthday--sorry second child!) but I still think it turned out well.  I did make her a "chalkboard" with her stats and favorites on it which probably took the most effort because I felt like she needed one like her brother's.  Some pre-made pink fans, flowers from Walmart, and a homemade "tutu" for her high chair brought it all together.

Brent's sister Dana came to the rescue again and made a "donut" cake.  It was so cute!  Landry was less-than-interested in actually eating it, but it made for some good pictures!
And when it was present opening time, she did so good!  All that practice from Christmas had made her a pro and she knew exactly what she was doing.  A big baby doll from Granny Susie and Delmer took the cake...she was so in love with it and still is!  It is practically her own size and looks so real that sometimes I freak out wondering why she is laid out in the floor! :)
Landry and Carter also had lots of fun playing with Uncle Justin's dog, Kilo, who came along for the party.
And at the end of the party, some of our neighbor's friends were out riding the horses and gave out some rides to some of the kids.  Carter was a brave boy and got on with Aunt Raylee!  I let the sleepy birthday girl sit that one out since she was worn out and it was COLD out there!
I still can't believe our Landry Kate is officially one.  This year has come and gone in the blink of an eye.  We are so honored to be your parents, Lou-girl, and can't wait to see the little lady you will become.  Just take your time, please! ;)
Nap time!! :)
