The flooring was replaced with Permastone tile, which we are loving! It is so easy to keep clean and I love that there aren't deep grout lines to scrub.
Then we had new black appliances brought in. We ended up getting a french door refrigerator after lots and lots of thought. I was determined not to put anything on the fridge, but when my CPA letter came in, I just couldn't help but display it loud and proud! And I love my new dishwasher; the top rack is adjustable, so it can be moved up or down to fit each load!
Next, we had a little bit of cabinet work done. In the picture above on the left, there was only one stack of drawers and the left side of it was open to be a bar. However, we have a bar on the other side of the island, so we didn't really need two of them. Plus, we can always use extra storage space! So we added the cabinets there, had the microwave hole made smaller so we would have more counter space under it, and had a door made for the tiny cabinet on the right above the fridge.
Our granite countertops were the next step. The company we worked with came to measure on a Monday and had the granite cut & installed by Wednesday! They did wonderfully, and we couldn't be more happy with the counters.Last was probably my favorite part: the backsplash. We used a mix of glass and stone looking tile. It really ties everything together! We also had the under-the-cabinet lights put in, which is so nice for night time and when we have company over.
We are still waiting on a few finishing touches as far as trim work around the bottoms of the cabinets and around the bar, but we are really enjoying our new kitchen and are so glad we got it out of the way before baby Carter!

Wow! Looks fabulous!! You guys did a great job! How are you doing?? When are you due again?
ReplyDeleteYour kitchen is gorgeous! I love the black fridge, it's so shiny, and it goes perfectly with the backsplash :)
