Weekend with Gigi

My family & I headed down to Atlanta last weekend to visit our Gigi.  We left out after work Friday evening and made it down there around midnight.  Since it was so late, we didn't get to see Gigi until the next morning.

She seemed to remember us for the most part and was really excited to see us.  We hung out with her all day on Saturday.  The funniest part was that the last time we were down, she was barely eating...but this time, she would clean her plate and ask for seconds!  What a difference medications can make!


We left to go to church that night, and came back to a huge home cooked dinner for Gigi's 86th birthday, complete with a yummy cake!  She blew out her candles with the help of my little sisters and then she opened her gifts.  She seemed to really know what was going on, and I am so thankful for that!

I was feeling yucky from some head congestion stuff, so I headed to bed pretty soon after while everyone else stayed up playing marbles.  Thankfully, when I woke up Sunday I was feeling better for our last few hours with Gigi and for the long drive back home.


It is always so sad leaving Gigi because she really seems like she knows it will be quite awhile before we can make it back down.  She always gets teary-eyed and it is hard for me to keep it together while saying goodbye.  But, I made it through and we hit the road.


I started reading the newest Nicholas Sparks book The Best of Me on the ride home, and I am loving it!  I just wish I had more time to finish it up!
