Thanksgiving 2013

I know, it's the middle of December and I'm just now getting around to this, but hey, I'm doing good just to get it on here! :)

We were so happy because Brent had Thursday-Sunday off with us!  Thanksgiving morning, we started off with some cinnamon rolls and the Macy's Parade.  We tried to get Carter to lay on down for a nap after our breakfast so he could be well-rested for Thanksgiving with our families, but it took over an hour in his crib before he could settle down after such a sugary meal!  So we ended up running late on everything even after we had to wake him up from his nap to head out.

First we go to my dad's sister's house for a quick visit before lunch.  Then, it's off to my step-family's house (with my mom) to eat lunch.  We usually hang out and look at the sale ads after lunch.  Then for supper, we head over to Brent's grandma's house.  There are lots of babies there now, so it is getting more and more fun over there every time!
My mom, sisters and I went shopping around 8:30 Thanksgiving night.  We have such a fun time, even if we don't go crazy standing in line or fighting over items!  We were out this year until about 3:30 in the morning!  Brent's alarm went off around 5 so he could go hunting, and I don't even remember waking him up! :)  Then Carter woke up around 7 and this momma was worn out!  Thankfully, I got a good nap in during his nap, and Brent came in from hunting just in time to join me.  We spent the afternoon around the house, starting to put up a little bit of our Christmas decor, but mainly just being lazy.

We dropped off little man with his grandparents for the night and went to visit Andrew, a friend of ours whose deer stand fell from the tree with him the weekend before.  He had been taken to Vanderbilt hospital for back surgery, but was already back close to home in rehab by Thanksgiving!  We met up with our friends Heather & Jake and went out for dinner afterwards.  Relaxed, hot meals in restaurants with adult conversation are to be cherished...I have learned this since being a mom!  It's nice every once in awhile to sip on a margarita and eat your steak in peace! :)  Brent & I went out and did a little more shopping afterwards and headed home for a good night of sleep.

We were able to sleep in on Saturday.  Once we pulled ourselves from bed, Brent worked on hanging the outside Christmas lights while I worked on the tree inside.  Brent's parents brought little man back just before his nap, so we laid him down and kept on decorating.

That afternoon, we went to my cousin Andrea & her husband Payton's gender reveal party for their baby due in April.  The decorations were really cute and the reveal was even cuter!  They used balloons and opened up the box and learned what baby Croft will be.  They were blue; it's a boy!  Carter man is so excited to have another little man to play with! :)  He was loving being the only baby there though, so he may have to get used to sharing the attention!

Brent and I stayed up late after returning home to finish up all of the decorating.  We were up past 11PM for probably the first time in months (besides my Black Friday shopping, that doesn't really count!).

Sunday, we did our normal church and breakfast routine.  We ran to town to get a few things we needed to wrap up the decorating after Carter's nap, and ate supper at my mom's.  And that was it for Brent's weekend off! Once again, we packed it full, but it's the only way we can fit everything we need to do all month in!
